Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived in Sweden on Thursday 5 May with a clear message: We have to save the world together.
Speaking in Gothenburg, at The Perfect World Foundation event, the Prince said we must help each other if we want to survive. He said climate change, pollution and damaged seas are threatening humanity.
The Monaco prince’s life mission – to save the oceans – is a passion shared by Sweden’s Princess Victoria who is the United Nations Ambassador for Sustainability, with oceans being a primary concern.
According to the Washington Post, Prince Albert II has donated more almost 1 Billion SEK to 700 different organisations. On his visit to Sweden for the Perfect World organisation’s 2022 Arctic Ocean Gala, he received the prize of honor from THE PERFECT WORLD Foundation for his work in saving the oceans. Previous recipients of this prestigious prize include Greta Thunberg, Sir David Attenborough and Dr Jane Goodall.
The Perfect World Foundation Award was presented to the prince by Sarah, Duchess of York, who is the non-profit’s global ambassador. The award recognises the prince’s life-long commitment, dedication and actions to preserve the world’s oceans. The award comes in the shape of a beautiful rhino-shaped crystal statue from Sweden’s leading glassware company, Kosta Boda.
The Prince also inaugurated the Foundation’s latest campaign – Project Ocean – which aims to raise awareness about fishing nets and other lost fishing equipment in the sea.
